Digital printing is becoming the foremost printing process in the large format/POP/POS industry. There will always be a place for screen printing but we have to face facts and take on board the reality that digital printing is here to stay for the foreseeable future.

The last 2 years has seen considerable advances in technology

  • Increased print speeds
  • Wider range of inks
  • Improved ink stability
  • Wider range of substrates
  • Sophisticated print heads
  • Improved software
  • Faster RIPs

There are a whole host of manufacturers and models but how do you decide if you need a roll fed, a flat bed or a combination of both? Which ink system, UV or water based? Speed versus quality. Cost versus speed and quality. How many colours? Does it have the ability to print white? Then you have to bear in mind all the hidden costs; service contracts, replacement heads, running costs and the true ink cost.

The impression is that Digital Printing is just “plug and play” the reality is that it is all too easy to waste large amounts of expensive inks and substrates and create a load of rejects. Downtime on machines can destroy the profitability of a company.

Buying a digital printing press can be a journey into the unknown where salesmen range from thoroughly professional to strangers to the truth. There is a vast difference between advertised print rate and production output. Choosing a press can surround you with more options than are available in mobile phone tariffs. Make sure you buy the correct press allow PDS to guide you through the maze.

When did your printers last have genuine print training? Or have they ever had training? For your company to succeed your printers must have the knowledge and understanding to get the best from the process. Providing top quality training can be a large investment.

The seminar will be targeted at all those who require a comprehensive understanding of the Printing Processes. For practical printers it will give a clear appreciation of how to avoid problems. If the need is to know more about printing for a job role the delegate will gain a thorough insight into the process. An absolute beginner will by the end of the seminar have gained a vast pool of knowledge on the process.

It provides a basic understanding as well as a high level of operational detail.

Problems are nearly always caused by a basic lack of understanding of the process or the materials used. In our seminars we explain those key elements and give strategies to avoid the pit falls. It may be machine selection at the outset or how to handle substrate correctly. Invariably people will claim they know about topics but in reality there are many holes in their knowledge. The training provides the security and confidence of knowledge and understanding.
